KUTZTOWN, Pa.--The Bellarmine University field hockey team improved to 2-2 on the young season by winning two games in the Joshua W. Wesner Memorial Tournament at Kutztown University today.
In game one the Knights cruised past Limestone 3-0 as Samantha Biedron, Moriah Facktor and Ellen West notched goals in the first 19 minutes to go ahead 3-0. Bellarmine coasted the rest of the way for the victory. For the game, Bellarmine outshot the Saints 26-2 and held a 14-3 advantage in penalty corners.
The night game was an exciting 5-4 overtime victory for the Knights, with the freshman Facktor converting a penalty corner nearly 12 minutes into the overtime period for the win over Catawba.  The game was close throughout, with the Indians striking first just two and a half minutes into the game.  Bellarmine's Cassi Dalrymple scored the first of her two goals to answer for the Knights.
The teams again traded goals once more before halftime for a 2-2 tie at the intermission. Ellen West scored quickly in the second half to give Bellarmine the lead, but two more goals by the Indians put Bellarmine in a 4-3 hole. Again Dalrymple answered for the Knights to knot the score at four and send the game into overtime.
On the game, Bellarmine outshot their opponents 25-15 and held an 11-7 advantage in penalty corners.
Bellarmine swings back into action on Saturday, Sept. 5 when they will face the host Kutztown Golden Bears at 11 a.m.
