LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Guard Jeremy Kendle scored 23 points and pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds as the Bellarmine University Men's Basketball Team defeated St. Joseph's College 95-81 on Saturday afternoon at Knights Hall.
Kendle was one of three Bellarmine players to score in double figures, making 10 of 19 shots from the field and dishing out eight assists in 36 minutes to lead all players. Luke Sprague added 19 points to tie his career high, while Braydon Hobbs tallied 18 for the victorious Knights (11-6, 4-4 GLVC).
“Look up and down the stat sheet, and we played well top to bottom today,” Bellarmine head coach Scott Davenport said. “Today was a crucial game for our basketball program, and I was very proud of our late-game execution.”
Bellarmine dominated the Pumas on the glass with a 46-18 advantage, but committed 18 turnovers for the game. 15 of those turnovers were steals by St. Joseph's.
“Our turnovers were due to their great defense,” Davenport said. “They pressure you with great quickness.”
The Pumas (8-7, 2-5 GLVC) were led by Mark Lake's 17 points off 5-10 shooting. Andrew Helmer grabbed a team-high six rebounds, while Phillip Collins had five assists.
The Knights embark on the first of their four-game road trip on Monday night with a visit to the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
