LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Bellarmine University men's basketball team will play 13 nonconference games in new head coach Doug Davenport's first season at the helm.

The addition of the nonconference slate to the previously announced 18-game ASUN docket completes a 31-game schedule for the Knights' 76th season on the hardwood.

"Everything we do as a program is focused on getting ourselves ready for ASUN play, making the schedule is no different," said Davenport of his first schedule as head coach.

Bellarmine will face four Power 5 teams, with three coming in the first five games. The Knights open the season on Nov. 3 at Georgia and then travel to the Little Apple on Nov. 8 to take on Kansas State.

The Knights then host their first two home games at Knights Hall against Division III Hanover (Nov. 12) and Wofford (Nov. 15), the first of two games via the scheduling alliance between the ASUN and Southern Conference. Bellarmine then heads to South Bend, Ind., on Nov. 19 to play Notre Dame. Finally, a previously announced in-state battle with Kentucky at Rupp Arena awaits on Dec. 23 to close out the nonconference portion of the schedule and round out the Power 5 matchups.

"Taking on the likes of Georgia, Kansas State, Notre Dame and Kentucky will show us exactly where we stand as we prepare for conference play," Davenport said. "All of these teams are very well coached and well resourced—we will have to be on it from the jump."

During the week of Thanksgiving, Davenport's squad will head to Charleston, S.C., to play The Citadel (Nov. 24) in the second game of the ASUN/SoCon scheduling alliance. The Knights will then stick around an additional day to take on Houston Christian (Nov. 25) of the Southland Conference in a neutral site game at The Citadel.

"We're looking forward to traveling to a great city to play two like-level opponents," Davenport said. "Hopefully we'll have plenty of scarlet and silver join us in Charleston."

The rest of the nonconference schedule includes home games against NAIA Midway (Dec. 3), former GLVC rival Northern Kentucky (Dec. 13) and Chattanooga (Dec. 17). The Knights also travel to Northern Illinois (Nov. 29) and Murray State (Dec. 6).

Prior to the opener at Georgia, Bellarmine will host Division III Centre for an exhibition on Oct. 29.

Following the game at Kentucky, the Knights will have an eight-day break before their ASUN opener at West Georgia on New Year's Day.
