INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.--Braydon Hobbs led five Bellarmine players in double figures with 18 points, as the Knights got an important road win tonight by defeating the University of Indianapolis 88-80 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference game in Nicoson Hall.

The win, Bellarmine's ninth in its last 10 games, improves the Knights overall record to 18-7, 11-5 GLVC. The Greyhounds slip to 12-14, 6-11.

"It's a road win against a very talented team," said Bellarmine Coach Scott Davenport, who pointed to limiting offensive rebounds and making free throws as major keys to the victory.

"We only gave up three offensive rebounds in each half--that won us the game," he said. "And, we hit 29 of 34 free throws."

The Knights led for the majority of the game, taking the lead for good at the 14:31 mark of the first half on a Justin Benedetti 3-pointer.  Bellarmine was able to carve out a 12-point lead at halftime after Hobbs drew a foul while shooting a trey and sank all three free throws as time expired in the opening period.

The Greyhounds didn't go quietly, however.  Sparked by Darius Adams' 26 second half points and aided by Bellarmine turnovers, UIndy whittled the Bellarmine lead to just three with 42 seconds remaining.  The Knights put the game away by going 8-for-8 from the charity stripe in the last 39 seconds.

Freshman Chris Dowe came off the bench to score a career high 16 points to match the point production of Jeremy Kendle.  Benedetti added 15, and Luke Sprague pitched in 12.

The Knights also continued to get production from junior Nick Holmes, who is battling back from surgery in December. The Cincinnati junior contributed six points, two rebounds, two assists and a blocked shot in just nine minutes of action.

Game high scoring honors went to Adams of Indianapolis, who pumped in 26--all in the second half.

Bellarmine now looks ahead to home dates with No. 8 Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday and No. 2 Southern Indiana on Saturday.
