LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Bellarmine University Knights volleyball squad defeated the Panthers of Drury University 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-16) at Knights Hall on Sunday afternoon.
With the win, the Knights advanced to 7-6 (3-6 GLVC), while the Panthers fell to 9-7 (4-5 GLVC).
Both teams started out slow in the first set, until the Knights were able to run away from a 5-5 tie. The second set was much closer, as the Knights and Panthers battled through three lead changes and four tie scores. Neither team more than three points in a row as service errors and attack errors plagued both squads.
The Knights easily closed out the final set with a 75 percent team attack rate.
Sophomore
Krista Gibson led the Knights offense with 11 kills, followed closely by junior
Paula Byrns with 10. Setter
Bailey BredenbeckCorp tallied 32 assists in the victory.
Libero
Jaclyn Ohlmann followed up her stellar defensive performance from Saturday with more great play. She racked up a match-high 14 digs and recorded a service ace.
The Knights will be back in action next weekend as they hit the road for GLVC matches against Rockhurst University Hawks on Saturday and William Jewell College Cardinals on Sunday.
