LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- The Bellarmine University men's soccer team will hit the road this weekend for two crucial Great Lakes Valley Conference matchups in the state of Missouri as they take on No. 17 Missouri S&T on Friday before wrapping up the weekend at Drury on Sunday.
The weekend road trip will have major implications on GLVC standings as the Knights, Miners, and Panthers all share identical 3-1 conference records. The trio is in a four way tie for third place in the conference with the University of Indianapolis.
The Knights (4-2-0,3-1-0 GLVC) continue to have a balanced attack led by freshmen duo
Jacob Kaye (4 G's, 4 A's) and
Dan Schiavi (3 G's, 2 A's). The compliment to these two is senior captain
Jack Binns who leads the GLVC, and is tied for third in the nation, in assists with six.
One of three GLVC teams ranked in this week's NSCAA poll, Missouri S&T(5-1-0, 3-1-0 GLVC) has one of the top defenses in the conference, only giving up four goals in their first six games. Miner goalkeeper Pat McNamee ranks second in the conference in goals against average at 0.40 and owns three shutout victories on the season.
Sunday's matchup will feature two teams with contrasting styles as Bellarmine's high powered offense will look to assert its will against a Drury offense that looks to grind the game out. The Panthers have more than one goal only twice this season, but also have four shout victories in their seven games.
Bellarmine and Missouri S&T are scheduled for an 8:30 kickoff with Sunday's game with Drury starting at 3:30 PM.
