Senior Day set for Knights on Wednesday

Rival Centre comes to town

LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- The Bellarmine University field hockey team will play their regular season finale on Wednesday night against a familiar foe, the Colonels of Centre College, in a crucial rivalry game at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.

Wednesday's game will be the final regular season home contest for seven seniors as the program bids farewell to Emily Belshoff, Shelby Daeschner, Moriah Facktor, Connor Galle, Natalie Perry, Hannah Walter, and Rachael Walz. The group has guided the Knights to a combined 42-24 record that included a program record 15 wins in the 2010 season.

Bellarmine (5-7) will look to get revenge on their instate foes after Centre (6-6) pulled the 2-1 overtime upset over the Knights in Danville on Sept. 26.  The game was marred by missed chances for BU as they failed to convert two penalty strokes while the Colonels defense made three defensive saves on near goals.

Freshman Alexis Van Wallaghen leads the team in scoring, tallying her fifth goal of the year in Bellarmine's 2-0 victory at Mercy College on Sunday. Meanwhile, junior Brittany Raque and sophomore Meghan Williams have each added in three goals for the BU offense.

In the cage, Paris Bryant continues to turn in a stellar year, owning a 1.91 goals against average. After giving up three goals in two of the first three games of the year, the sophomore from Louisville has been dialed in allowing eight goals total over her last seven games.

Game time between Bellarmine and Centre is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with senior day ceremonies beginning prior to the contest.
