LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- The Bellarmine University men's soccer team sent seven departing seniors out in style on Friday night by cruising past the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers by a 5-0 score in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
Before the game the team honored the class of 2012:
Paul Althoff,
Jordan Beckles,
Robert Bowling,
Nathan Driggers,
Justin Klenke,
Cole Page, and
Steve Seithel. The senior class has guided the Knights to a 39-22-8 record while helping the Knights' reach the program's highest national ranking, 18th, in 2010-11.
Sophomore
Dan Schiavi helped Bellarmine (8-4-3, 7-3-3 GLVC) put away the Panthers early on, scoring two goals and picking up an assist in the game's first nine minutes. The score remained 3-0 until late in the contest when
Joshua Hubert and
Jacob Kaye tacked on insurance tallies. Driggers,
John Cantrell, and
Ronnie Moss also picked points on assists.
In all 23 players saw action for Bellarmine who outshot KWC 29-5 including 11-2 on goal.
Blake Hunter picked up the win, playing the first half before giving way to freshman
Austin Saini.
Bellarmine will hit the road on Sunday by traveling to Southern Indiana for a 3:30 p.m. game.
