ROMEOVILLE, Ill.—The Bellarmine University men's soccer team completed a road sweep this weekend by knocking off the host Lewis Flyers 2-0 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference soccer game.
The Knights got a goal from Matt Odem—his first of the season-- in the 41st minute and that would end up being the winning score as Bellarmine and goalkeeper Blake Hunter completed the shutout victory.
Bellarmine's Robert Bowling added his team-leading sixth goal of the season, heading in a corner kick off the foot of Steve Seithel, to provide the game's final score in game's 74th minute.
With the win, the Knights improve to 6-2-1 overall and 5-1-1 in the GLVC, which places them near the top of the league standings. With games still to play today, Bellarmine trails only Quincy (5-0-2) and Missouri-St. Louis (5-1) in the GLVC standings. Lewis falls to 3-7, 3-5 GLVC.
The Knights return home for a pair of GLVC contests this weekend, hosting Drury on Friday at 6:30 p.m., and Missouri S&T on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
