Box Score INDIANAPOLIS — The Bellarmine University men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss to Cedarville on Thursday in its season debut.
Playing at neutral-site University of Indianapolis, the Knights (0-1) trailed 2-0 at halftime and allowed another goal in the second half to the Yellow Jackets (1-0), who are the reigning Great Midwest Athletic Conference champions.
Cedarville's Connor Gilmour, who took home G-MAC Offensive Player of the Year honors last season, scored both of the Yellow Jackets' goals in the first half and Aaron Plummer found the net after the intermission.
Cedarville accumulated 11 shots to the six of Bellarmine. The Yellow Jackets were credited with four shots on goal, while the Knights tallied one.
Gilmour scored his first goal in the fifth minute off an assist from John Schwien. He added his second in the 32nd minute off a pass from Michael Auld. Gilmour racked up 14 goals last season.
Plummer capped the scoring by sinking a deep free kick with 8 minutes left in the match. Cedarville goalkeeper Paulo Pinto recorded the shutout.
Bellarmine will meet Davis & Elkins at noon (ET) Saturday at UIndy.
