EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Senior
Marissa Kovach reached a milestone and the Bellarmine University women's tennis team ended its fall season undefeated with a convincing 8-1 victory over Lindenwood on Saturday at neutral-site Southern Indiana.
"It was hard fought, but we played excellent from start to finish," Coach
John Mican said. "It was a great test, and we came through with flying colors. We realize we still have a lot of work ahead of us."
After winning her matches at No. 2 doubles and No. 4 singles, Kovach became the fourth Knight in program history to record 100 career victories. She now has 59 singles wins and 41 doubles wins to her name. Kovach joined Rebecca Porter, Caitlin Hanley and
Sydney Thompson on the prestigious list.
"Marissa is the absolute hardest worker at practice and has made herself into the player that she is today," Mican said. "She is a great role model for our younger players with her work ethic."
Junior
Maggie Walroth (No. 1 singles, No. 1 doubles) and sophomore
Ashley Jonathan (No. 3 singles, No. 1 doubles) joined Kovach in winning two matches for the Knights (4-0) against Lindenwood (0-2).
