Box Score 4 LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The Bellarmine softball team extended its weekend with a doubleheader against Saginaw Valley on Monday after squaring off against Kentucky State and Ohio Dominican on Saturday and Sunday.
The Knights started off with three straight wins, but finished the 6-game stretch .500 after dropping the final three games.
Bellarmine moves to an even 12-12 on the season with the remainder of its schedule being strictly Great Lakes Valley Conference games. The Knights will get a bit of a break before starting league play with a home doubleheader on March 18 against Rockhurst.
On Saturday, Bellarmine swept Kentucky State by the scores of 8-2 and 15-4. The Knights jumped out to early leads in both contests and were never seriously challenged.
Rachel Fox and
Lillie Nitzken each finished the day 3-for-6 with 3 RBIs while

Monday's doubleheader with Saginaw Valley went on as scheduled despite a steady rain at game time. Unfortunately for the Knights, the dreary weather was appropriate for the day as the Cardinals came into Knights Field and got the sweep, winning game one 5-1 and taking the second game 7-3.
The Knights narrowly avoided being shut out in game one before Hammer smoked a liner over the head of the SVSU center fielder that went for a triple with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.
Ciara Incorvati then lifted a shallow fly ball into left center that was misplayed by the Cardinals outfield when the left fielder and center fielder collided.
In game two, the Knights managed just four base hits with
Erica Knollman recording the only RBI of the day for Bellarmine when she was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the third inning.
