GREENCASTLE, Ind. — The Bellarmine University women's tennis team opened its 2018-19 campaign with a strong showing over the weekend in the DePauw Fall Invitational.
The Knights, coming off a record-breaking season in which they earned a berth in the DII NCAA Tournament, went a combined 20-6 at the event. They were 8-1 in doubles action and 12-5 in singles play in their first competition under new Coach
Bill Carey.
Sophomore
Aubrey Smith went 6-0 and junior
Ashley Jonathan went 5-0 at the tournament. Jonathan and senior
Maggie Walroth, the program's all-time winningest doubles duo, added three more victories to their partnership in the No. 1 doubles flight.

Madison Devillez also went a perfect 3-0 in the No. 3 flight. Junior

Sarah Fitzgerald went 2-1 in the No. 2 flight.
In addition to capturing their first collegiate doubles wins, Devillez won two singles matches (one each at No. 3 and 5) and Fitzgerald won one singles contest at No. 6. Jonathan's perfect 2-0 mark came in the No. 2 flight, and Smith's unblemished output came in the No. 4.
Skonieczny went 3-0 in singles play, winning two matches in the No. 3 flight and one at No. 1. Walroth also tallied a victory in the No. 1 flight.
