CINCINNATI, Ohio. — The Bellarmine women's tennis team picked up two Sunday wins at the UC/Xavier Invitational in Cincinnati this weekend.
In addition to Bellarmine, Cincinnati, and Xavier - Ohio State, Northern Kentucky, and Indiana also competed at the two-day event..
Freshman
Ekaterina Tikhonko helped tally the Knights lone two wins. The first was a doubles victory alongside senior
Madison Devillez. The freshman-senior combination picked up a 6-2 single set win against Ohio State on Sunday and came just shy of a second doubles win on Saturday with a 6-7(3) loss to Miami OH.
Tikhonko later collected a singles win against Dani Schoenly of Ohio State in straight sets (7-6(3), 6-2) and fell in a hard-fought three sets (6-1, 6-7(3), 10-5) to Ohio State's Lina Ali on Saturday. This marks the second consecutive invitational for Tikhonko with multiple wins after going 3-0 in singles play at the EMU Hidden Duels in September.
Junior
Maja Kozerski also hung tough against Miami OH's Makensie Long, falling in three sets (7-6(3), 3-6, 4-10).
The Knights return to the court next month at the Murray State Invitational Nov. 5-7 in Murray, KY.
