WILMORE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University women's cross country team had five runners finish in the top 11 as the Knights captured the team title Saturday at Asbury's Chick-fil-A Invitational.
Bellarmine comfortably topped the five-team field with 38 points. Georgetown (Ky.) was the runner-up with 50 followed by Asbury (57), Alice Lloyd (71) and Midway (141).
Freshman
Trisha Sexton (21:14.78) paced Bellarmine in the 5k race by finishing fifth. Seniors
Neville Wintergerst-Burch (21:30.53) and
Riley Glenn (21:32.06) placed eighth and ninth, and freshmen
Madison Adkins (21:36.84) and
Alli Manley (21:46.56) made it four Knights in a row after finishing in 10th and 11th to round out the Knights' top 5.
Sophomore
Olivia Brown (22:20.50) provided Bellarmine a sixth runner in the top 20 after she placed 20th.
Bellarmine will compete next Saturday in the ASUN Championship at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.
