Jeffries acknowledged as ASUN All-Conference

ATLANTA — Bellarmine University women's basketball's Tasia Jeffries was recognized on the ASUN All-Conference second team, the league office announced Tuesday.

The senior guard is Bellarmine's leading scorer and ranks eighth in the ASUN at 13.7 points per game. The Louisville native also tops the Knights in 3-pointers made (44) and steals (32) while averaging 3.2 rebounds. She's shooting 77.8 percent from the free-throw line.

Jeffries has scored in double figures in 14 of her 18 games and broke 20 points on three occasions. The product of Butler (Ky.) Traditional has either led or tied for the team lead in scoring in eight of the last 10 contests. On Feb. 13 against Liberty, Jeffries tied a program record for 3-point percentage after sinking 7-of-8 shots from deep for an 87.5-percent clip. She's nailed at least three 3-pointers in 10 outings.

FGCU's Kierstan Bell was the unanimous choice for both ASUN Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. North Florida's Jazz Bond was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year, while North Alabama's Sakyia White was tabbed as the Freshman of the Year. FGCU's Karl Smesko was unanimously voted Coach of the Year.
