LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The Bellarmine Knights field hockey team will return to action this week when it goes on the road to face Ball State in 1 p.m. games on Friday and Saturday.
The Knights had an unexpected week off last week when No. 18 Miami was forced to cancel games due to COVID issues within their program.
In the Knights' last action, a pair of home losses to Kent State, Bellarmine was forced to play short-handed as contact-tracing kept several key players out of the lineup. This week, Coach
Devanny Boisvert anticipates being able to compete with a more robust lineup.
Bellarmine, which is playing its first year at the Division I level, is still looking for its first victory and enters the Ball State series 0-6 on the season. Sophomore
Amber Hofenk Jerembo has been the top offensive weapon for the Knights and leads the team with two goals and 15 shots on the season. Freshman
Anna Crump also has been an active part of the offense with a goal and a pair of assists.
Traveling to Muncie, Indiana to face the Cardinals will be a bit of a homecoming for Boisvert, who played collegiate field hockey at Ball State where she was an all-conference performer.
This year's Cardinals team is 3-5 on the season with its last action being a 1-0 victory over Mid-American Conference foe Longwood. Ball State's top offensive threats are Rachel Pereira and Marueen Donegan, who each have two goals while Emma Hilton and Louisville native Jenna McKune have two assists on the year.
