ATLANTA — They played side by side on the Bellarmine University men's soccer team, and senior defenders Jonas Skulstad and Eddie Williamson joined together again on the 11-member ASUN All-Academic Team, which the league announced Thursday.

All-Academic nominees must have a minimum 3.30 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale), completed four semesters of college coursework or 50 percent of progress towards degree, participated in 50 percent of the team's contests and have one year of residence at the institution (graduate transfers excluded).

Skulstad and Williamson both completed career sweeps of Academic All-Conference acknowledgement, as both were recognized over their first three years at Bellarmine by the GLVC.

Skulstad, the 2018 GLVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's soccer, carries a 3.80 GPA while majoring in exercise science. The native of Egersund, Norway, is a four-year starter who was the 2018 GLVC Defensive Player of the Year. The center back is a two-time All-Conference performer who garnered first-team All-Region plaudits as a sophomore. Skulstad was honored as the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week on April 6 and assisted on the golden goal in a 2-1 double-overtime victory over Lipscomb in the regular-season finale that clinched the North Division's top seed in the ASUN Championship.

Williamson carries a 3.81 GPA while majoring in finance and has garnered multiple regional academic awards in his career in addition to conference notice. The native of Stockholm, Sweden, was a DII All-American last season and started all four years at center back. A first-team All-Conference and All-Region selection in 2019, Williamson began his tenure with the Knights by earning GLVC co-Freshman of the Year acknowledgement. Always a danger on set pieces, he registered eight goals and four assists in his career.

"It is nice to see both Jonas and Eddie recognized for their work on the field and in the classroom," Knights Coach Tim Chastonay said. "Both Jonas and Eddie embrace the meaning of what it is to be a student-athlete. Their commitment to academics as well as athletics is a great example to our younger players."
