LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Former All-American Amanda Greenwood has returned to the Bellarmine University track and field program as a hurdles/sprints coach for both the women's and men's teams.

Greenwood (formerly Schnabel) is among the most decorated student-athletes in the history of the program. The native of Elk Grove, California, was a two-time All-American, six-time All-Region performer and 13-time All-GLVC recipient in a distinguished career as a hurdler and sprinter for the Knights that ran from 2014-18 and culminated with a selection to the program's All-Decade Team.

Helping guide her college alma mater will be the first coaching experience for Greenwood.

"I am excited to be a part of the track and field program again," she said. "Being a part of the team was a very important part of my experience at Bellarmine. Not only did it allow me to grow as an athlete, but it also provided me with lifelong friends. I'm looking forward to working with the team and sharing the knowledge that I gained from being a part of the program."

Greenwood was a major part of the program during her days as a student-athlete. She was a dominant hurdler in the GLVC, piling up five conference titles in the discipline. Greenwood captured two GLVC championships each in the 100 and 400 outdoor hurdles and another in the 60 indoor hurdles. She garnered All-Midwest Region recognition in the outdoor 100 and 400 hurdles her senior season. Greenwood is the program record holder in the 60 indoor hurdles, the 100 and 400 outdoor hurdles, and possesses the freshman records in all three.

As a sprinter, Greenwood earned All-America honors in the 4x400 indoor relay as a freshman and senior. Between the two seasons, she racked up three GLVC titles and four All-Region accolades in the event. Greenwood was a member of both 4x400 indoor and outdoor squads that own the program record. She was a two-time GLVC Track Athlete of the Week.

"We are so glad to have Coach Greenwood involved with our program again," Women's Head Coach Angela Hapner Musk said. "Amanda's athletic accomplishments are extremely impressive in their own right, but the confidence and poise with which she achieved those were astounding. She made her first appearance at an NCAA Championship as a freshman on our 4x4 team and notched a runner-up finish."

Greenwood swept Academic All-GLVC laurels in her career and capped her tenure by receiving the GLVC Council of Presidents Academic Excellence Award, which honors student-athletes who exhaust their eligibility while maintaining a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Greenwood is in her third year working as a nurse at Norton Children's Hospital in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.

"Amanda was an exemplary student, balancing the challenges of nursing clinicals and classes with a very demanding athletic schedule," Hapner Musk said. "She is going to be a great example to our team of the drive and skill it takes to realize your potential as a student-athlete, and I am confident that, as a coach, she will make use of that same skillset and leadership she showed as a student-athlete."

Greenwood is married to Drew Greenwood, a former All-GLVC shortstop at Bellarmine who, like his wife, was named to his program's All-Decade Team.
