LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Senior
Emma Wells' name gained even more prominence in the Bellarmine University women's cross country program record book after Saturday's Live in Lou Classic at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park.
For the fourth consecutive meet, Wells delivered an all-time top-50 performance in the 5k, on this occasion finishing in 18:26.7 in the Gold Race to own the Knights' 39th-fastest mark ever. Wells also posted all-time top-50 marks in this season's Mike Baumer XC Classic and North Alabama Showcase and last year's season-ending ASUN Championship.
Ellie Schroeder etched her name into the program record book. The senior broke into the performance list (measures PR) at 18th after finishing in 18:46.4.
Overall, Wells led Bellarmine by placing 152nd. Junior
Anna Wells was next in 186th (18:38.3) followed by Schroeder (201st), senior
Chloe Powell (221st, 18:55.1) and freshman
Sierra Oesterling (234th, 19:00.0).
Sophomore
Trisha Sexton (247th, 19:04.3) and junior
Justice Pohlman-Singleton (291st, 19:26.3) competed in the prestigious Gold Race as well for the Knights.
Bellarmine also had competitors in the Blue Race. Sophomore
Erin Luckett led the Knights' contingent in 220th (20:09.8).
As a team, Bellarmine placed 38th out of 41 in the Gold Race. Furman won the team title.
Bellarmine's final regular-season race will unfold Oct. 14 at the Bradley Pink Classic.
