LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University men's soccer team returns to ASUN action as the Knights will head to the Sunshine State for a 7 p.m. (ET) Saturday contest with Jacksonville.
Bellarmine (3-3-1, 0-2 ASUN) and Jacksonville (3-2-2, 0-1-1) have met once in the Division-I era, playing to a scoreless tie last season in the regular-season finale at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium. The Knights secured a berth in the ASUN Tournament with the result.
With two matches down in an eight-game ASUN slate, Bellarmine is still seeking its first point. The Knights opened conference play with a 2-0 loss at Liberty and a 1-0 setback at home to Central Arkansas.
While Jacksonville fell 4-0 on the road to defending ASUN champion and nationally ranked Lipscomb in its conference opener, the Dolphins did secure a point with a 1-1 draw at home against FGCU. They followed with a 3-0 nonconference home win over Georgia Southern on Tuesday. Jacksonville has been very good at home, posting a 3-0-2 record on its own turf.
Despite only one goal, Moussa Sabaly is the team leader in points. That's because he's distributed an ASUN-high six assists. Joshua Araujo-Wilson, Olivier Correa and Cao Chaves have all supplied two goals as Jacksonville has scored 13 times in seven matches.
When it comes to goal production, it's ostensibly been all or nothing for Bellarmine so far. While the Knights have been shut out three times, they've scored two goals in each of their other four games. Bellarmine is still searching for its first goal in ASUN competition.
