KETTERING, Ohio—The Bellarmine women's golf team turned in a solid effort at the University of Dayton's Flyer Invitational at the NCR Club's North Course on Monday and Tuesday, finishing fourth in the field of 11 after rounds of 298, 299, and 300.
Senior
Josephine Bonin notched an individual fourth place finish among 72 players. The native of Paris, France opened the tourney by tying the school record with 67 (-3) in Monday's morning round before a bumpy start in the afternoon left her with a second round score of 77. Bonin closed on a strong note by posting a 72 in Tuesday's final round.
NCAA Division II powerhouse and former Great Lakes Valley Conference rival Indianapolis won the team crown with rounds of 284, 292, and 297 for a 13-stroke margin over runner-up and host Dayton. Ohio State's Kailie Vongsaga claimed medalist honors with an aggregate score of 214 (+4).
While Bonin cracked the top five in the event, three Knights claimed top 30 finishes. Freshman
Presli Webb had a strong showing and a T-22 finish with rounds of 77, 73, and 76. Senior
Alaina Schmitt was one shot back in a tie for 27th with sophomore
Piper Davis another shot back in a tie for 30th.
Bellarmine's next outing will be its final tournament of the fall as the Knights travel west on I-64 to compete at the University of Evansville's Charles Braun, Jr. Invitational on Oct. 23 and 24.
