CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.—Bellarmine's
Luke Bischoff put together back-to-back stellar rounds and made school history on Monday by winning the Austin Peay Intercollegiate—the first individual win by a Knight since transitioning to Division I.
The Louisville sophomore fired rounds of 68 and 67 to finish nine-under par and win by three shots while leading the Knights to a third place finish.
Contested at the par 72, 6,811-yard Clarksville Country Club, Morehead claimed the team title finishing at 10-under par (566). The host Governors were three shots back at 569, which bested the Knights (288-282, 570) by just one shot after rounds of 288 and 282 put Bellarmine at 570.
In addition to Bishoff's outstanding play, Bellarmine got under-par rounds from four different golfers in the play 6, count 4 event.
Brooks Korfhage fired an opening round 71 to help the Knights shoot an even par 288 in round one. In the afternoon, sophomore
Kash Albarado was 3-over after his first five holes, then brought it home in grand style with six birdies in his final 15 holes to post a closing round 70 and finish tied for eighth in the field of 50. Similarly,
Patrick Brooks bogeyed two of his first three holes then brought it back to match Albarado's 70 to finish 11th overall.
Bischoff's day featured 13 birdies and just four bogeys. So far this season, four of his 11 competitive rounds have been in the 60s with his overall stroke average an even 70.
