KENNESAW, Ga.—The Bellarmine Knights men's golf team was the best on the links in today's final round of Pinetree Intercollegiate, but a lackluster opening day left the Knights in seventh position overall.
Led by
Davis Billows' collegiate-low round of 68 (-4), Bellarmine fired a final round 283 (-5) to post the only team score under par today. However, the Knights struggled adjusting to the lightning-quick greens and opened with rounds of 317 and 303 on Monday to finish with an aggregate 54-hole score of 903.
The host Kennesaw State Owls will keep all the hardware as they won the team competition by eight shots over Augusta and KSU's Shaun Cook took the medalist trophy after posting rounds of 70, 65, and 70 to finish 11-under-par.
Billows was the top Bellarmine finisher, tying for 12th in the field of 58. He opened with scores of 74 and 76 before today's 68 which featured five birdies and an eagle.
The Pinetree Intercollegiate, which was played at the beautiful Pinetree Country Club, was the final tournament of the fall for the Knights:
