CHARLOTTE, NC — The Bellarmine University wrestling team's tri-meet against host Queens and St. Andrews on Sunday in Curry Arena was a rousing success.

In fact, from start to finish, it was almost nothing but a string of successes.

Dropping one match the entire day, Bellarmine stampeded through the tri-meet by defeating Queens 47-3 and following with a 56-0 victory over St. Andrews, in the process moving to 4-0 while winning every dual thus far by 28 points or more.

"Great way for us to cap off the semester with a couple dominating wins where the guys cut loose! The men are progressing really well with what we have been focusing on in training," Knights Coach Ned Shuck said. "Now we get a couple weeks before little time off for Christmas break."

Freshman Damion Ryan (125) posted tech falls in both matches, freshman Trayce Eckman (133) pinned both opponents and sophomore Michael Schiffhauer (141) delivered a tech fall and fall.

Sophomore Zac Cowan (149) earned a fall and tech fall, freshman Gray Ortis (157) notched a pair of tech falls and freshman Grant O'Dell (165) collected a pair of falls.

Junior Cole Nance (174) registered a major decision and a fall, sophomore Sam Schroeder supplied a major decision and a tech fall and sophomore Thadd Huff pinned both opponents.

Bellarmine will compete Dec. 29-30 in the renowned Soldier Salute in Coralville, Iowa.

"Really excited for our next opportunity up in Iowa," Shuck said. "Our team will be tested in every way and, for me, there is nothing like seeing how our training has prepped us for those challenges. Can't Wait!"
