Gordon nabs ASUN's first Indoor Track Athlete of the Week accolade

ATLANTA — The EKU duo of Samuel Carter and Taha Er Raouy were joined by Bellarmine's Jackson Gordon as they earned the season's first set of Atlantic Sun Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field weekly honors, announced Wednesday by the league office. Carter earned the second Field Athlete of the Week accolade of his career while teammate Raouy garnered his first Freshman of the Week. Gordon earned the Knights the second all-time weekly honor as he claimed the Track Athlete recognition. 

Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Jackson Gordon, Bellarmine
Sophomore | Versailles, Ky. 
- First Career Track Athlete of the Week award; second all-time for Bellarmine
- Started his sophomore campaign strong at the Commonwealth Classic
- Took fifth place in the 1,000-meter crossing in 2:34.14
- The 2:34.14 time set a new Knights program record in the event
- Topped Parker Terry's 2:34.22 from the 2020 Indian Wesleyan's Midwest Classic

Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Samuel Carter, EKU
Graduate | Savannah, Ga. 
- Second Career Field Athlete of the Week honor; sixth all-time award for the Colonels 
- Placed fourth in the Triple Jump at the Commonwealth College Opener
- Posted an indoor-best 14.76m, competing against athletes from Stanford and Campbellsville
- His mark tops the ASUN and is No. 12 in the country
- Posted a 60-Meter time of 7.11, which also sits at No. 1 in the conference
Other Field Nominee: Gabriel Martin, Lipscomb; Enrico Busato, Queens. 

Men's Indoor Freshman of the Week
Taha Er Raouy, EKU
Freshman | Marrakech, Morocco
- First Career Freshman of the Week award; second all-time honor for the Colonels
- Finished 16th out of 116 runners in the 3,000-Meter at the Sharon Colyear Danville Season Opener
- Crossed the finish line with a personal-best time of 7:56.25
- His time ranks No. 1 in the ASUN and is No. 10 in the nation
- The 7:56.25 sits third-best in EKU's program history
