TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Sophomore
Sierra Oesterling placed among the top 30 in leading the Bellarmine University women's cross country team in a 5k race Saturday morning at Indiana State's John McNichols Invitational.
Bellarmine placed 10th of 18 as a team at Lavern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course. Belmont (60) won the team title, with Indiana (69) and Kansas State (70) not far behind.
Oesterling placed 29th and her personal-record 18:21.4 ranks as the 37th-best 5k time in program history. Oesterling has paced the Knights in both races this season.
Senior
Anna Wells followed Oesterling in 41st (18:37.4). Junior
Taylor White finished 47th and entered the program's 5k performance list (measures PR) at No. 17 with a 18:42.9.
Junior
Trisha Sexton was next (93rd, 19:25.8) while junior
Hannah Ellis (114th, 19:57.0), junior
Erin Luckett (129th, 20:25.7) and freshman
Molly Moore (134th, 20:30.7) rounded out Bellarmine's top 7.
Bellarmine will compete locally Sept. 30 in the Live in Lou Classic at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park.
