Box Score LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University men's tennis team got off to a highly encouraging start to the 2023-24 season.
On Friday and Saturday at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex, the Knights went 16-2 in singles play and 8-0 in doubles action in the Bellarmine Fall Invitational.
Illinois Chicago, Chicago State and Eastern Illinois joined Bellarmine in the invitational, which used a hidden duel format.
Juniors
Xavier Ecarma and
Brent Reynolds, sophomore
Vineet Ramesh and freshman
Wynn Shioi — in his collegiate debut — all went 3-0 in singles play. Junior
Jack Batchelor and sophomore
Matthew Nice posted 2-1 marks.
Batchelor and Nice went 2-0 together in doubles play, as did Ecarma and Ramesh. The tandems of Ecarma/Nice, Batchelor/Shioi, Ramesh/Reynolds and Reynolds/Shioi all went 1-0 as the Knights swept their doubles matches.
Bellarmine will play Sept. 30-Oct. 1 in Youngstown State's YSU Invitational.
