LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University women's basketball team is Sunshine State-bound this week in Atlantic Sun Conference action as the Knights will play at 7 p.m. (ET) Thursday at North Florida before taking on Jacksonville at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Bellarmine (5-12, 0-5 ASUN) is coming off a three-game homestand, its longest conference stretch of the season in Freedom Hall, and will now play three of the next four on the road. Last week, the Knights lost a 91-90 heartbreaker in overtime to North Alabama and were within six of Central Arkansas in the final quarter before the Sugar Bears pulled away for a 73-59 victory.
According to a press release issued by the ASUN, last Saturday's scheduled meeting between North Florida (7-11, 1-3) and Jacksonville (5-12, 1-3) at UNF Arena was postponed "due to health and safety concerns with the Jacksonville program." The Ospreys have not competed since a 76-57 win at Queens on Jan. 13, which was preceded by a 52-43 loss at Kennesaw State.
Lyric Swann is North Florida's leading scorer (11.4) and ranks fourth in the ASUN in 3-pointers made (41). Kaila Rougier is also scoring in double figures (10.9). The Ospreys' 147 3-pointers made is the third-best tally in the conference.
Jacksonville will host Eastern Kentucky before welcoming Bellarmine. The Dolphins have also not taken the floor since a 59-57 loss Jan. 13 at Kennesaw State. Two days prior, they edged Queens 54-52 on the road.
Jacksonville possesses one of the ASUN's most prolific scorers in Edyn Battle, who ranks second in the league in points per game (18.7). Battle has posted seven 20-point games and scored less than 14 on only two occasions. Saniyah Craig averages 11.0 points and is tied for fifth in the conference in rebounding (7.1).
Bellarmine's
Hope Sivori piled up a career- and game-high 26 points against North Alabama and a team-high 18 points against Central Arkansas. The junior guard has scored in double figures in every ASUN game and sank a minimum of three 3-pointers in each of the last four games. She is tied for third in the league in assists (4.4) and ranks fifth in 3-pointers made (37).
Miyah Brown is also coming off a big week of production. The sophomore guard poured in a career-high 21 points against North Alabama and 15 against Central Arkansas. The UNA performance included 11 rebounds, her second double-double of the season. Brown has registered five rebounds or more in 12 of the last 13 games.
Hayley Harrison ranks fifth in the ASUN in scoring (13.9). The junior guard has scored in double figures in all but four games this season. Her 30 points against Akron is the team's individual high on the season.
