Women’s golf matches second-lowest round in program history at Butler

10/2/2024 11:03:00 AM

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Highland Country Club and the Butler Fall Invitational have yielded a bevy of friendly scores to the Bellarmine women's golf team the past few seasons. This time around, it was 294 carded by the Knights in the second round that matched the second-lowest round in program history that makes the headline.

The Knights also posted a 294 in the third round of this event last fall. Five of the lowest six rounds in program history have occurred in the same event and the same course, including a program-record 291 in the first round in the fall of 2021.

Contributing Knights on the par-70 course included Rozlyn Rooke (71), Presli Webb (74), Piper Davis (74) and Geriann Ackermann (75). All four carded a trio of rounds in the 70s, marking the team's first time having four players with three rounds in the 70s since the Dayton Flyer Invitational last October.

The 71 for Rooke was the lowest round of her collegiate career, besting her 72 in the third round of this event last year. The Ontario native finished tied for 23rd.

Webb was the top finisher for Bellarmine for the second time in three events this season, finishing at plus-10 and tied for 17th. It was her second top-20 finish of the season, as well.

Freshman Raquelle Nelson made her collegiate debut as an individual and carded a low round of 78 (plus-8).

As a team, the Knights placed 10th out of 17, one spot ahead of former GLVC rival Southern Indiana and six spots ahead of neighboring Northern Kentucky. Host Butler finished tied for second at plus-35 while Youngstown State ran away with the event at plus-23.

The Bulldogs' Kelli Scheck (plus-1) took home medalist honors after three playoff holes against Youngstown State's Neeranuch Prajunpanich.
