EVANSVILLE, Ind. –
Lauren Stewart was the top finisher for the Bellarmine women's golf team for the first time in her career at the completion of the two-round Charles Braun, Jr. Intercollegiate Tuesday.
The sophomore carded rounds of 81 and 79 at Oak Meadow Country Club to finish tied for 26
th out of 85 players at plus-16, two shots better than fellow sophomore
Presli Webb. Webb led the Knights with five birdies while Stewart holed three.
Stewart's best previous finish was at this same event last year when she tied for 38
th out of 77 golfers in just her second collegiate event.
Freshman
Geriann Ackermann made her fourth straight start to begin her Bellarmine career and finished at plus-20, tied for 44
th.
Matti Spalding also finished tied for 44
th and holed one of the tournament's five eagles, doing so Tuesday on the par-4, 313-yard 7
th hole after a strong drive and a perfect wedge from 24 yards out.
The Knights placed ninth out of 14 teams in the event at plus-74, with all six players finishing within an 11-shot range of each other. Indiana State won the team medal at plus-35, 10 shots better than runner-up Belmont. Host Evansville placed fourth at plus-50.
Indiana State's Yang Tai grabbed medalist honors at plus-3, four shots better the Belmont's Sloane Biddle and Evansville's Louise Standtke, who tied for second.

Bellarmine has a quick turnaround for their final event of the fall. The Knights hit the links again this Friday through Sunday on the Highlands Course of the RTJ Golf Trail at Hampton Cove for Lipscomb's event, The Robbie. This same course will also host the Knights' first event of the spring in March and the ASUN Championship in April.
