EVANSVILLE, In. – Thirteen different Knights earned gold with Micaela Godfrey setting a new program record as Bellarmine University swimming defeated Southern Indiana on Saturday at the USI Aquatic Center.
 
 Godfrey, a freshman, continues to impress in her collegiate debut season as she set the new women's program record in the in 200 backstroke with a time of 2:03.71, topping the previous record of 2:04.94 set by sophomore Charlotte Tully last season. In addition to her record setting performance, Godfrey also touched the wall first in the 100 backstroke (57.24) and the 200 IM (2:09.32).
 
Fellow freshman Lily Wolfe, Annie Leibold, Lily Epley and Ava Jones also saw success in the event, each winning gold. Wolfe toped the 1000 freestyle (10:47.38) while Leibold finished first in the 200 butterfly (2:12.67) as did Epley in the 50 freestyle (24.43) and Jones in the 100 freestyle (53.31).
 
Senior Alexandra Pierce rounded out the women's individual winners with a gold in the 200 breaststroke (2:23.40).
 
Junior Erin Dall'Agnol, along with Godfrey, Leibold and Epley secured first in the 400-medley relay (3:56.90).
 
On the men's side, senior John Paul Metzner led the charge winning three events in the 50 freestyle (21.62), 100 freestyle (47.12) and the 100 butterfly (50.98).
 
The junior duo of Sam Jones and Cason Henderson registered two golds each. Jones claimed top spot in both the 500 (4:44.81) and 1000 freestyle (9:44.63) while Henderson touched the wall first in the 200 butterfly (1:54.43) and the 200 IM (1:57.78).
 
Sophomore Colin Jackson also nabbed two wins for the men, finishing first in the 100 (51.98) and 200 backstroke (1:55.05).
 
Additionally on the men's side, sophomore Evan Dickson claimed first in the 200 freestyle as did grad student Andrew Nguyen in the 100 breaststroke (58.81) and senior Brandon Thomas in the 200 breaststroke (2:09.88).
 
Jackson, Nguyen, Metzner and freshman David Diercks won the 400-medley relay while Dierks, Jackson, sophomore Reece Pennington and junior Caleb Howard finished first in the 200-freestyle relay.
 
Both the Bellarmine men and women pulled out team wins with the men topping USI 206-88 while the women won 153-141.

In addition to Godfrey's program record, the Knights set multiple pool records at the USI Aquatic Center. For the women, Godfrey set the pool record in both the 100 and 200 backstroke and in the 200 IM as did Epley in the 50 freestyle, Jones in the 100 freestyle and Pierce in the 200 breaststroke. For the men, Jackson broke the pool record in the 100 and 200 backstroke, as did Jones in the 1000 freestyle, Henderson in the 200 butterfly and Thomas in the 200 breaststroke. Both the men's and women's 400-medley relay team also set pool records.
 
Up next, Bellarmine will continue its lengthy road stretch with a trip to St. Louis, Mo. for a dual with the Billikens of St. Louis University on Saturday, November 2.
