LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Bellarmine University swim teams concluded the regular season on Saturday, turning in a sweep of Evansville on Senior Day at Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center.
Bellarmine's men turned in 25 podium finishes, including nine golds, en route to a 167-38 victory over Evansville while the women recorded 17 podium finishes and five golds in their 114-88 win over the Purple Aces.
Two Knights in junior
Evan Dickson and freshman
Ahmet Efe Inceoglu turned in two wins for the men. Dickson touched the wall first in the 200 freestyle (1:41.17) and the 500 freestyle (4:40.24) while Inceoglu claimed the 50 freestyle (20.91) and the 100 freestyle (44.62).
Five other men recorded one win each in senior
Sam Jones (1000 free, 9:38.57), freshman
Carter Souliere (200 IM, 1:52.39), junior
Reece Pennington (100 butterfly, 50.02), junior
Colin Jackson (100 back, 50.19) and freshman
Zach May (100 breaststroke, 57.30).
On the women's side, sophomore
Ava Jones and freshman
Kaja Vaadal led the way with two wins each. Jones secured the 50 freestyle (23.93) and the 100 freestyle (52.31) while Vaadal won the 500 freestlye (5:15.91) and the 1000 freestyle (10:46.07).
Senior
Erin Dall'Agnol rounded out the top finishers with a first place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.12.
Up next, Bellarmine will take some time to prepare for the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships taking place in Orlando, FL February 18-21.
