ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Bellarmine University swimming placed first in 12 events in its dual against Saint Louis on Saturday at the Simon Rec Center.
Junior
Sam Jones and Senior
John Paul Metzner earned top billing on the men's side, winning two events each. Jones touched the wall first in both the 500 (4:43.27) and 1000 (9:45.85) while Metzner claimed first place in the 50 freestyle (21.21) and 100 butterfly (51.13)
The men also saw winning contributions from senior
Brandon Thomas, who finished first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:11.70. Sophomore
Colin Jackson was the youngest of the men's winners for Bellarmine, winning the 100 backstroke with a time of 52.17.
On the women's side, sophomore
Lily Wolfe and freshman
Micaela Godfrey led the charge with two wins each. Wolfe took gold in both the 500 (5:16.51) and 1000 (10.43.95) freestyle events while Godfrey touched the wall first in the 400 IM (4:37.62) and the 100 backstroke (57.79).
Senior
Alexandra Pierce took home a win in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.75, as did freshman
Lily Epley in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.98.
Saint Louis won the dual on both sides, topping the men 120-98 and the women 124-93.
Up next, Bellarmine will race once more on the road, traveling to Carbondale, IL for the Southern Illinois Invite November 14-16.
