LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Bellarmine University track and field broke four program records that had stood since at least 2014, and sophomore
Jackson Gordon topped himself in establishing another new mark as the Knights competed Friday and Saturday at the University of Louisville's Clark Wood Invitational.
One of the program records that was rewritten came in the 4x100 relay, as senior
Ike Boling, sophomore
Zac Hutslar, freshman
Carter Olmsted and sophomore
Zander Hooten posted a 41.52 that broke the previous record of 41.55 set by William Saucer, Nate McKinney, Sean Klosterman and Damar Williams at the 2012 Louisville Twilight. The foursome placed fifth in the event.
Hooten knocked off a second program record that had been held since 2012, with his runner-up finish in the 400 hurdles in 53.85 taking over Jared Findlater's previous standard of 53.98 at the Bellarmine Classic.
Hutslar revised another record that had aged. His fifth-place finish in 21.57 in the 200 edged Torian Vaughn's 21.59 from the 2014 Tennessee Relays.
This meet has brought out the best in Gordon in the 400. He took gold in the event in 46.64, which bested his own 46.90 from the 2023 iteration of the Clark Wood meet.
Amelia Svidal's 11.72 in the triple jump broke not only a women's freshman program record that had stood since 2013 (Tori Goodwin, 10.50, Austin Peay State Invitational), it established a new overall program record that was previously set in 2018 (Sarah McMurchie, 11.23, Bellarmine Invitational).
