JONESBORO, Ark. –
Ben Davenport tied for 13th for the second tournament in a row Tuesday as the Bellarmine men's golf team wrapped up play at the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate.
The sophomore posted back-to-back 70s (-2) in the first two rounds Monday, an effort that included four birdies in the first round and six in the second. The Bowling Green product finished at +1 for the event and tied for eighth with 12 total birdies and added an eagle on the 530-yard, par-5 sixth hole in the first round.
Ben Wulkopf carded steady scores of 72-74-73 to finish two strokes behind Davenport at +3, tied for 18th. The Trinity product's even-par 72 in the first round gave him four rounds this season at or under par, matching his total from last year.
Luke Bischoff also finished in the top half of the 72-player field at +8, alone in 37th place.
Host Arkansas State earned the team medal on their home course at -41, 26 shots better than Tennessee-Martin in second place. The Red Wolves' Milan Reed took home the individual medal at -14, one shot better than teammate Thomas Schmidt in second. ASU also boasted the third-place finisher, Jake Wells (-9) and the fifth-place finisher, Jake Lile (-5).
Bellarmine placed eighth in the 12-team field.
