Record 14 Knights earn MSFL postseason honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Bellarmine sprint football team placed 14 players on the Midwest Sprint Football League All-Conference teams, the league announced on Monday. The 14 players gained 17 total honors, both records for Bellarmine in the four-season history of the sprint football program.
 
Four Knights earned first team notice, two apiece on the offense and defense. Six were named to the second teams, two on offense and four on defense, while four earned honorable mention, two on offense and two on defense.
 
Leading the offensive laurels were first teamers Brenden Reid, who rushed for 628 yards (2nd in the MSFL) and seven touchdowns (T-3rd in the MSFL), and Morgan Capps, who ranked 6th in the MSFL with 307 receiving yards. On defense, Gavin Brazzell and Caleb Murray landed on the first team. Brazzell ranked highly in the league with 50.0 tackles (T-4th), 7.1 tackles per game (T-4th) and 6.0 tackles for loss (T-13th). Murray tied for 8th with 43.0 tackles.
 
Versatile senior defensive back Lance Weiter found himself on both the defensive and special teams second teams, as well as the Champions of Character Team.

Harold Davis' Knights finished the regular season 3-4 and made the playoffs for the fourth straight season.
