NEW ORLEANS, La. – Bellarmine men's golf made its first spring appearance in the states this week, placing 12
th out of 15 teams in the Gulf Coast Collegiate at English Turn Golf and Country Club.
Hosted by the University of New Orleans, the event was the first of the spring in the United States for the Knight after they opened their schedule in Mexico at the beginning of the month.
Bellarmine was led by sophomore
Ben Davenport at +23, good for 43
rd in the 80-man field. Davenport also recorded the low round for the Knights with a 74 in the third round. Redshirt sophomore
Ben Wulkopf and senior
Peyton Bonny also produced a third-round score in the 70s, turning in a 77 and 76, respectively.
Augusta won the tournament with a team score of +34, 16 shots better than second-place Loyola Chicago.
Individually, there was a three-way tie at the top. Augusta's Chapman Barnett and Pieter Rossouw, along with St. Johns' Joseph Dolezal finished tied for first at +9 over 54 holes.
