PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Mex. – The Bellarmine men's golf team wrapped up play in their first event of the spring south of the border Tuesday at the Compadres Collegiate. It was Bellarmine's first international trip during their Division I era.
Despite the Knights placing last in the nine-time field, there were some positives to be taken from the Iberostar Playa Paraíso Golf Club in Playa del Carmen. The team shot a 305 in their final round on Tuesday as
Ben Wulkopf broke par at -1 (71) and
Ben Davenport finished at even-par (72). For Wulkopf, it was his fifth round at or below par during the 2025-26 season; for Davenport, his seventh.
Davenport was the Knights' best finisher at +14, tying for 25th in the 56-player field.
Co-host Texas Rio Grand Valley won the three-round event at +16, besting their in-state foes North Texas (+21) and Texas San Antonio (+26) who placed in second and third, respectively.
Despite the team performances by the Lone Star State representatives, it was Western Carolina's Tyler Jones who earned medalist honors at -4. He and runner-up Sam Johnson from Drake (-2) were the only two to finish under par.
