JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Bellarmine University baseball's
Landon Akers claimed the spot for shortstop on the 14-member Preseason All-ASUN Team, the league announced Thursday.
The redshirt sophomore is coming off a standout debut season in which he was named second-team All-ASUN and to the ASUN All-Freshman Team. The Louisville native in 2025 established a new D1-era program record for hits (80), which was tied for 33rd in the nation at the conclusion of the regular season.
In addition to hits, Akers finished the regular season ranked in the ASUN's top 10 in batting average (.356), doubles (15), runs scored (48), stolen bases (16) and total bases (115). He smacked six homers and drove in 24 runs while piling up 26 multi-hit games. In conference play, the middle infielder batted .390 over 29 contests.
Akers was also named to Perfect Game's Preseason All-Conference Team for the ASUN.
Along with his on-field achievements, Akers received several acknowledgments for his work in the classroom in 2024-25, including being named to the Academic All-ASUN Team and to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team.
