LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Last week, the Bellarmine University women's track and field team earned its first-ever top 25 acknowledgement in the USATFCCCA computer rankings.

On Tuesday, the Knights built upon that milestone, jumping from No. 22 to No. 18 in the latest rankings to set another new standard for the program.

The rise in the national listing came after Bellarmine placed third in the GLVC Championships last weekend at the Athletics & Recreation Center on the University of Indianapolis' campus behind several impressive showings.

Senior Meghan Jones rewrote the GLVC record book in the 200- and 400-meter dashes while claiming first in both events. The All-American also combined with junior Tori Goodwin, freshman Meghan Roby and freshman Amanda Schnabel to place first in the 4x400 relay. Jones earned an NCAA automatic qualifying time in the 400.

Jones was honored as the GLVC Athlete of the Year, and Roby took home Freshman of the Year accolades. Roby had an outstanding rookie debut at the GLVC Championships, placing third in the 60 and fourth in the 200 while helping the distance medley relay team also comprised of senior Flannery Musk and freshmen Sarah Schuster and Caitlin Carroll nab a third.

Freshman Bridgette Mangold placed second and sophomore Abigail Harris took fourth in the pole vault, and Mangold added a sixth in the pentathlon. Musk registered a fifth in the mile and a sixth in the 800, junior Cidnei Johnson placed second in the 60, Schnabel claimed a fourth in the 60 hurdles, Goodwin garnered a fifth in the 400 and sophomore Sydney Race tallied a seventh in the long jump.
