LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Junior
Zac Hutslar set a new men's program record in the 200 meters as Bellarmine University track and field competed Friday and Saturday in the University of Louisville's Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational.
Hutslar's time of 21.43 in the 200 broke his own 21.57 from last year's edition of the meet as he placed 16th among 69 competitors in the event. Hutslar also placed in the top half of the 100 (33rd, 10.77).
Sophomore
Alex Cole took third (48.59) in Flights 2&3 of the discus while senior
Luke Wunsch (38.59) and freshman
Will Bracher (37.47) placed first and second, respectively, in Flight 1. Bracher was fifth in the shot put (15.50), and Cole was ninth in the hammer throw (55.46).
Junior
Jackson Gordon placed fifth in the 400 (48.09) and sophomore
Chase Austin was sixth in the 1500 (3:53.04), both among a field of 58 in their respective event. Junior
Zander Hooten took eighth in the 110 hurdles (14.60) and was 11th in the 400 hurdles (54.34).
Bellarmine had three athletes finish in the top third of the 69-member 800, with junior
Alex Hooten placing ninth (1:52.28), Gordon taking 15th (1:52.81) and senior
Nolan Hester occupying 21st (1:54.12).
Junior
Taylor White placed sixth in the women's 3000 steeplechase (11:18.58), while senior
Avery Koch was sixth (38.31) and sophomore
Haden Wolfe was 14th (35.45) in Flights 1&2 of the discus.
Also placing in the top half of their respective events were sophomores
Annie Somwe (27th, 58.56) and
Raven Payne (29th, 58.69) in the 400, junior
Jansen Story in the 800 (29th, 2:18.35) and Payne in the 200 (44th, 25.11).
Bellarmine will compete Friday and Saturday in the University of Kentucky's Jim Green Invitational, its final regular-season outdoor meet before the ASUN Championship.
