INDIANAPOLIS — The Bellarmine University swimming teams competed Friday and Saturday in the UIndy Quad Meet.
Bellarmine's men faced GLVC rivals UIndy, Lewis and Missouri S&T. The Knights women took on UIndy, Lewis and Division I Butler.
Junior
Sophia Noren captured top honors in the 200 breaststroke (2:27.31). It was one of five events in which Bellarmine's women had three finish in the top 8 en route to a 188-149 win over Lewis and 182-156 victory over Butler. Sophomore
Elizabeth Schrenger was fourth and freshman
Megan Schroeder was fifth. That same trio was involved in the 100 breaststroke, with Soren taking second, Schroeder third and Schrenger sixth.
Sophomore
Avery Witcher was the runner-up in the 200 butterfly, freshman
Anna Holt took fifth and sophomore
Maya Sorensen was sixth. Witcher, Schroeder and Holt placed second, third and fourth in the 400 individual medley, while Sorensen, freshman
Olivia Hopper and junior
Haley Todd secured fifth, sixth and eighth in the 100 backstroke.
Sophomore
Rachel Walker placed second in both the 500 freestyle and the 1000 freestyle. She was also fifth in both the 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle. Walker, Sorensen, Noren and senior
Grace Roegner captured runner-up honors in the 400 medley relay and took third in the 200 medley relay.
Sorensen and Hopper were seventh and eighth in the 200 backstroke, Schroeder placed seventh in the 200 individual medley and Roegner finished eighth in the 50 freestyle. Roegner, sophomore
Meghann McLaughlin, Noren and Walker took fifth in the 400 freestyle relay.
On the men's side, sophomore
Daniel Sims placed third in the 200 breaststroke, fourth in the 400 individual medley and fifth in the 200 individual medley. Sophomore
Matthew Sims finished sixth in the 100 individual medley and eighth in both the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle.
Junior
Ty Grubb placed sixth in the 200 breaststroke and seventh in the 100 breaststroke. Senior
Evan Shive placed sixth in the 100 butterfly and junior
Jeffrey Owen was seventh in the 200 backstroke.
