200 medley relay team, Walker compete on first day of NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS — The Bellarmine University women's swimming team had competitors in two events Wednesday on the opening day of the NCAA Championships.

Freshman Rachel Walker competed in the 1000 freestyle, and senior Kathryn Vulich, sophomore Sophia Noren, senior Emily Zawadzki and junior Grace Roegner participated in the 200 medley relay at the IUPUI Natatorium.

In the latter event, the Knights foursome finished 12th (1:43.13) in the preliminaries and 15th (1:43.88) in the finals. Walker finished 30th (10:24.19) in the 1000 freestyle.

Walker is scheduled to compete today in the 200 freestyle, freshman Matthew Sims in the 400 individual medley and Vulich, Noren, Walker and Roegner in the 400 medley relay.
