LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University track and field teams competed Wednesday in the Lenny Lyles Cardinal Invitational at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center.
The Knights squads took on Louisville, Notre Dame and Eastern Kentucky in the indoor meet at the brand new facility located in the city of Louisville.
On the men's side, freshman
Shomari Rogers-Walton broke the indoor program record in the 60 (also the freshman 60) after finishing in 6.91 in the prelims. The mark had stood since 2013, when Damar Williams ran a 6.99 at the GLVC Indoor Championships.
Rogers-Walton also shattered the program's freshman long jump record with a 6.80-meter jump while placing second.
Alexie Robles had the previous standard of 6.49, set in 2016 at the Kentucky Invitational.
Senior
Reid Masterson threatened the program record in the 3000 while placing third. Masterson finished in 8:25.48, a breath away from Bellarmine Track Athlete of the Decade Robert Sandlin's mark of 8:23.91 set in 2014 at the Indiana University Relays.
Junior
Parker Terry placed fifth in the 800.
On the women's side, sophomore
Katrina Kamarute placed fifth out of nine in the 400, senior
Emily Wiegel placed sixth out of 10 in the 800 and senior
