LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Coach
Chris Tinius announced three additions to a sizable latest recruiting class of the Bellarmine University women's soccer team.
Joining the Knights are midfielder Chelsea DeVettori of Carmel, Indiana, and a pair of UAB transfers in midfielders
Sarah Buse and Regan Kommor, who are both products of the city of Louisville.
"We are excited to have finished out our roster for the upcoming season with three more additions," Tinius said. "All three are midfielders, but they all three have unique personalities in the way they play that should add versatility to the way we can play as a team. We feel like Chelsea was a great late find coming out of high school. Regan and Sarah bring a different perspective as graduate transfers, which should benefit our younger players. That said, they aren't here as one-year hired guns. They are hometown kids coming back to help build a local program, which is a truly unique experience. We are excited to see how all three can impact our program."
Here's a look at the three additions:
Sarah Buse
Hometown: Louisville, KY
Position: Midfielder
High School: Sacred Heart Academy
Previous College: UAB
Tinius on Buse: "We are thrilled that Sarah will be doing her graduate work at Bellarmine and using her extra year with our program. I've been impressed with her abilities since working with her as a youth player. She is steady on the ball, has good vision and can help control the tempo of a game in the middle of the field. It's been fun to watch her growth as a player and person and to see it come full circle back here in Louisville is pretty cool."
Chelsea DeVettori
Hometown: Carmel, IN
Position: Midfielder
High School: Bishop Chatard High School
Club Team: FC Pride ECNL
Tinius on DeVettori: "Chelsea is a player that we feel lucky to have come upon at the end of the process. This has been a very unique recruiting cycle for coaches and players with all of the ramifications of COVID and the dead period. You don't typically find a player like Chelsea this late in the game. She is a versatile player that can shape her game to complement the people around her."
Regan Kommor
Hometown: Louisville, KY
Position: Midfield
High School: Collegiate
Previous College: UAB
Tinius on Kommor: "Regan is another player that we've rated highly for years dating back to her youth career here in Louisville. She can be solid in possession but also bring a little more attack-mindedness when her team needs it, and we hope to unleash some of that. Her familiarity with our style and the comfort of being in the surroundings of her hometown should help make for a smooth transition."
