LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Bellarmine University Volleyball Coach Jenni (Horvath) Grzebin was inducted into the Badin High School Hall of Fame this past weekend for her accomplishments as player — both on the volleyball and basketball courts. The ceremony was held at the high school in Hamilton, Ohio, on Saturday night.
Grzebin, who is heading into her 10th season as the women's head volleyball coach at Bellarmine, was a four-year member of Badin's varsity volleyball team, named the team's MVP for three consecutive years and served as team captain as a senior. She was named first-team all-league and first-team all-Greater Cincinnati by the Enquirer.
She also played three years of varsity basketball at Badin and was team captain and leading scorer and rebounder on the team that finished as the Division II state runner-up in 2004. She was the Butler County Player of the Year by the JournalNews, first-team Greater Cincinnati by the Enquirer and second-team all-Ohio by the Associated Press. She is currently seventh on the all-time girls' basketball scoring list with 839 points.
Opting for volleyball over hoops in college, Grzebin is the only Badin player to earn an NCAA Division I volleyball scholarship, signing with Xavier out of high school. She was a standout for a Musketeer team that earned the program's first-ever at-large bid to the NCAA tournament. She was on the Atlantic 10 Conference all-tournament team as a junior and senior, named a top Scholar/Athlete and played on Xavier teams that finished 83-45 over four years.
At Bellarmine, she has ushered the Knights into the DI era after guiding the team to three straight 20-win seasons to close out Bellarmine's run at the Division II level. Along the way, she picked up Great Lakes Valley Conference Coach of the Year honors and led the Knights to their first NCAA tourney appearance.
