5/4/2022 3:00:00 PM

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Seven Bellarmine Knights were recognized in the ASUN Conference's postseason awards announced on Wednesday.  Jon Robbins and Benny O'Rourk picked up First Team All-Conference honors with Denton Macdonald and Kyle Playsted earning spots on the Second Team. Additionally, Aidan Fearn, Brady Long, and Justin Wescoat were named to the All-Freshmen Team.

Robbins, a defenseman who also earned Academic All-Conference honors, was the ASUN leader in total caused turnovers and currently ranks second in the nation with 42 on the season.  That figure shattered Robbins' own school record for most in a season and brought his career total to 110, which also is a school record and ranks tied for 12th on the NCAA's all-time list.  He also leads the Knights in ground balls with 56 this season, and his 177 career ground balls rank second on the BU all-time list and are the most by a non-faceoff specialist. Robbins also has been effective when crossing into the offensive end of the field this season, netting three goals and an assist this season.

Like Robbins, O'Rourk earned preseason All-Conference honors this year, and the midfielder didn't disappoint, coming on strong to close the regular season with 15 goals and 10 assists. O'Rourk, a junior from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, registered nine of his 15 goals during ASUN play, and his four man-up goals led the league.

Attackman Kyle Playsted was recognized on the Second Team after putting up some of the best scoring numbers in the league.  The sophomore from Calgary, Alberta broke Bellarmine single season-records for points (53) and assists (28) this year. He ended the regular season tied for first in the ASUN in assists and ranked T-2 in points. Playsted was twice named ASUN Player of the Week this season.

Primarily a short stick defensive midfielder, Macdonald made the ASUN Second Team for contributing on both ends of the field. On the defensive end, he ranked fourth on the team in caused turnovers with 12 while scooping up 23 ground balls. He also was an effective scorer, netting 12 goals while dishing out four assists.

With three All-Freshmen selections, the Bellarmine future seems to be bright as Fearn, Long and Wescoat all found success in very different positions.

Fearn was one of Bellarmine's primary faceoff specialists, going to the "X" 153 times in his nine games this season and winning 70 draws to rank second on the team.

Long, meanwhile, made an immediate impact for the Knights' defense, starting all 16 games and ranking third in the ASUN in caused turnovers with 26, the fourth-most in a season in school history.  He also is a team leader in ground balls, ranking third with 32.

Wescoat made his mark on the offensive end, playing in all 16 games for the Knights and notching 11 goals and three assists on the season.
