LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Jackson Gordon's succession plan is now complete.

On Saturday at the Commonwealth College Opener, the Bellarmine University junior set a new men's indoor program record in the 300 while placing first in 34.30 at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center.

In doing so, Gordon now occupies consecutive spots in the men's indoor program records in the 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 800 and 1000. The 300 record was previously held by Trevor Holbrook (34.86) at the 2022 iteration of the Commonwealth College Opener.

In addition to Gordon, Chloe Freilinger also secured a top placement for Bellarmine, which competed with partial squads. The senior took top honors in the women's 600 in 1:33.27. Sophomore Raven Payne (fifth, 1:37.60) provided the Knights a second top 5 in the event.

Bellarmine had a pair of runner-up finishes. Sophomore Carter Olmsted took second in the men's 60 hurdles (8.30) while sophomore Amelia Svidal did the same in the women's long jump (5.47). Svidal added a third place in the triple jump (11.45).

Along with Gordon winning the event, Bellarmine had four of the top 15 in the 43-member men's 300, with junior Zac Hutslar (eighth, 35.15), Olmsted (11th, 35.34) and freshman Grant King (15th, 35.49) joining Gordon.

Bellarmine is off until it returns to action Jan. 10-11 at the University of Kentucky-hosted Rod McCravy Memorial at North Healthcare SLC.
