LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Sophomore
Jackson Gordon set two new program records in leading Bellarmine University track and field at Friday's PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center.
Gordon rewrote the men's indoor record book in both the 200 and 400. In the former, he placed third in 21.86, breaking
Trevor Holbrook's previous mark of 22.11 set at the same meet last year. In the latter, he captured the gold in 47.46, besting his own 47.68 at last season's ASUN Championship.
Bellarmine had six men place in the top half of the mile. Sophomore
Chase Atkins and junior
Nolan Hester were neck-and-neck in eighth and ninth, respectively, while junior
D.K. Schnieders placed 18th, junior
Jackson Gawarecki took 21st, sophomore
Alex Hooten finished 25th and junior
Paul Stamm placed 28th.
Four men placed in the upper half of the 3000 for the Knights in sophomore
Ryan Burchett (22nd), freshman
Chase Austin (23rd), freshman
Christian Mattern (27th) and junior
Peter Dalmares (30th).
Sophomore
Zander Hooten took fourth in the 60 hurdles and freshman
Carter Olmstead was 10th, while senior
Ike Boling was 11th in the 200.
Junior
Chloe Freilinger delivered a bronze in the women's 400 and freshman
Raven Payne (17th) and sophomore
Jansen Story (22nd) also placed in the top half of the field. Freilinger (16th) and Payne (30th) did as well in the 200.
Freshman
Amelia Svidal placed fifth in the triple jump while junior
Naimah Slaughter was 11th in the long jump. Sophomore
Alysia Hurtado placed in the upper tier of the weight throw (12th) and shot put (14th).
Bellarmine will compete Friday and Saturday in the GVSU Big Meet.
